With the help of generous support from individuals, businesses, and foundations, we are able to fulfill our mission to improve communication independence for life.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Columbus Speech & Hearing is committed to providing the highest quality care in a client-focused environment. Charitable donations allow us to provide critical services to those in the community who would not otherwise be able to afford them.
Planned Giving Options
A bequest is an official statement in your will or trust designating Columbus Speech & Hearing as a beneficiary. This is the simplest way to create a legacy gift to us. You can specify a certain dollar amount, a percentage of your total estate, or the remaining value of your estate (after all other bequests have been paid) to go to CSH. Estate tax savings may be significant.
Sample language for a bequest statement is:
“I hereby give to Columbus Speech & Hearing, a not-for-profit corporation, with its principal office currently located in Columbus, EIN number 31-4379449, to be used for its general purposes [or for the purpose described in the gift agreement signed by myself and the nonprofit Executive Director electronically filed at the organization]: The sum of $ [AMOUNT] and/or [PERCENT] % of the residue of my estate.”
Another opportunity to make a significant gift to Columbus Speech & Hearing is by designating us as a beneficiary in your life insurance policy or your retirement assets (such as a 401[k], pension, or IRA). You can designate us as the sole or partial beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy or IRA that is no longer needed by your family. Or, you can name CSH as the beneficiary of a new policy. This gift option does not require a will.
If you are age 70 ½ or older, an IRA Charitable Rollover to Columbus Speech & Hearing may be ideal. Many individuals use this as a method to lower their taxable income from IRA withdrawals, while also meeting the required minimum IRA distribution for the year. Donations made directly to CSH from your IRA are often not treated as taxable income. For advice, contact the financial representative of your IRA and/or tax advisor.
Your advisor may request this information about our nonprofit organization:
Columbus Speech & Hearing – 510 E. North Broadway Ave, Columbus OH 43214 (614) 263-5151. EIN number 31-4379449. Point of contact: Executive Director James Dye.
By giving stocks or securities instead of cash, people may benefit with substantial additional tax savings. For example, people who itemize their deductions and donate appreciated stocks that have been held for over a year can benefit by not paying taxes on unrealized gains in ADDITION to deducting the market value amount of the charitable donation. Securities can be gifted to the CSH via electronic transfer (in which your broker transfers shares to an account of the organization).

Your Gift Can Support Kids like Oliver
Your charitable gift helps someone like the Rao family. Ten years ago, Baby Oliver Rao had just failed his newborn hearing screening. The Rao family faced a frightening diagnosis of hearing loss and an impossible price tag for hearing aids.
Our clinicians were patient and kind, and coached the Rao family to apply for a grant in order to successfully put Baby Oliver in his first hearing aids. Most importantly, the clinicians helped mom navigate fears so that the Rao Family could focus on their hopes for Baby Oliver’s future.
Our clinicians and client families could tell you hundreds of success stories like this one. Today, we’re asking for you to invest in hope for the future.
