Working on speech and language goals at home can be challenging. A fun idea to help practice a little every day is to use National days. National days help us celebrate every day in a fun way and are great for working on a variety of speech and language goals. You can use Google to find a National day calendar and then use your creativity to make working on goals at home fun! Below are some National days and ideas to address goals.

Articulation: Make a word list that has your speech sound(s) for each activity you choose and practice target words
Expressive Language: Naming ingredients to make a recipe, naming pictures in a book, provide phrases/sentences for your child to imitate during activities and while playing, use signs/AAC device, answering questions
Receptive Language: Following directions to make a recipe, naming objects for your child to find and color in a coloring book, have your child help you find items needed for activities
Fluency: Practicing easy/stretchy speech in words, sentences or conversation during activities
Social/Pragmatics: Staying on topic during activities, asking for help, understanding that others may have different thoughts/feelings/emotions/perspectives, acting out social scenarios and problem solving
