Zion’s language skills were minimal. At age two, his speech was still babble with just a few audible words mixed in. His parents were concerned that his ability to communicate was not up to par with those of his peers, and his social skills were also lacking.
Later that year, Zion was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. At age 3 ½, Zion started therapy at Columbus Speech & Hearing. He participated in small group therapy as well as individual therapy.
Zion is now in first grade, speaks in complete, easy-to-understand sentences and is becoming more socially aware. He aspires to be part of the puppeteer team at his church. Zion’s mom credits his great achievements to their family’s deep faith and the expert, caring professionals at CSH. “We are so pleased with his progress,” says Zion’s mom. “Our wonderful therapists have helped us work through a lot in dealing with Zion’s challenges associated with his Autism. We are excited to continue seeing Zion succeed!”
