Megan is a teacher with hearing loss. Thanks to a visit to the CSH Audiology department, a hearing loss diagnosis, and a fitting with new hearing aids, she “couldn’t wait for school to start.” When she reflects on how her new hearing aids have already changed her life, she remembers a not-so-distant past when, “I had to ask my students to constantly repeat themselves.
“I couldn’t make out exactly what they were saying.” In her role as a high school teacher for students with special needs, Megan’s hearing loss, even though it was considered mild by medical standards, was keeping her from connecting with her students and doing her job to the best of her ability. Not only was her hearing loss affecting her work, but her social life as well. “I used to avoid restaurants, or any place that could be loud and I missed out on a lot. My new hearing aids are so discreet and small that even my mother didn’t notice them!”
