About Us

Our mission

To unlock potential for individuals with communication challenges through all stages of life.

Our values

Teamwork, Excellence, Respect, Integrity, and Compassion.

Our vision

To be the recognized leader in providing personalized service and caring attention to help the people we serve achieve their full potential.

Established in 1923 as the League for the Hard of Hearing, our organization has evolved significantly to what it is today.

For over 100 years, Columbus Speech & Hearing has been the leading nonprofit serving the communication needs of central Ohio and surrounding communities. Each year, we serve more than 8,000 central Ohio children and adults by providing audiology and hearing aid services, speech-language therapy sessions and evaluations, community outreach programs, American Sign Language classes and a Support Service Provider program. As a nonprofit, we serve all individuals – regardless of their ability to pay – because we believe that the ability to communicate and connect is vital to our health and well-being.

Our History

Columbus Speech & Hearing was established in 1923 as the League for the Hard of Hearing. The League focused on assisting hard-of-hearing individuals in the Columbus community to improve their ability to communicate. Over time, the League experienced name and location changes; however, the desire to help individuals in the central Ohio area remained.

Focusing on the needs of the community, the League evolved into the programs that exist at Columbus Speech & Hearing today, which include audiology & hearing aid services, speech-language therapy, and community ASL classes.

For over 100 years, Columbus Speech & Hearing has continued to offer exceptional service to clients across Ohio. By remaining focused on its mission to help all people improve communication, the center raises awareness of speech and hearing challenges throughout the Columbus community and surrounding areas.

Making a Difference for 100+ Years

We want to take a moment to thank our spectacular patients, providers, supporters, and staff who have helped make our journey possible. For more than a century now, we’ve helped people tackle communication challenges through all stages of their life and have become the recognized leader in successful, personized patient care and attention.

Our practice began in 1923 as the League for the Hard of Hearing, which then shaped into the excellent programs and services now offered at Columbus Speech & Hearing. To this day, we continue to help raise awareness on communication challenges facing those in the Columbus and surrounding communities.
